Prelude to Tales from Cloud Mountain
Once, there was a darkness
A darkness that was entirely itself –
alone, automatic, and devoid of all
Ceaseless and uncaring, this dark
Not hot
Not cold
it was just…
And beyond that darkness
in the Great Unknown,
Two energies intertwined
A masculine ember, firm and demanding
A feminine shard, glittering grace
Voyaging through the astral ballads
United in ceremony, they bound themselves
to the clock that keeps on ticking
Two memories creating one, they were
Lord Sun and Lady Moon
A verse and chorus shifting night into day
Benevolent notes in the Astral Ballad,
they were committed to remembrance
An impossible concept to the ceaseless dark,
It welcomed Lord Sun and loved Lady Moon
And for eons the dark was illuminated by Sun and Moon until it became something entirely new
It was still automatic
and it was still just,
But it was also a world with greens and blues
and red-hot blood coursing through tectonic veins
Dark it was no longer
Uncaring it could not be
For it was by some miracle over unrecorded time that the Once Ceaseless dark exploded with life
Memories from the cosmos
flooded its landscape
And the Magnanimous Starsong filled its skies
For it was now breathing
and rightfully alive –
Thundering vigilant rhythms
to foster all manner of life
And life remembered
It found its way
Plucking notes into the
Astral Ballads
And so, I sit
Where the Once Ceaseless dark
now thrush with life kisses the cosmos
High atop Cloud Mountain
With Lord Sun and Lady Moon
Hidden, peering into the world
Chronicling through eons
That I may share with you
storied tales from the Once Ceaseless Dark
